Job purpose

To maintain trees on road reserves, at parks, on traffic islands and in other City-owned developed and undeveloped open spaces and facilities with specialised equipment, such as a mechanical stump grinder and chippers, to improve the quality of the environment and render a service to the communities of Region 6

Appointment 

requirements

Grade 10

At least six months’ relevant working experience as a truck driver

A valid Code C1/EC1 driving licence with a valid PrDP

Physical fitness and health

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Ability to do physical work related to operational and maintenance activities for continuous periods; ability to work under pressure; ability to work in a group; good communication skills

Primary functions

Control all vehicles and equipment allocated to the function

Ensure that all principles and guidelines as prescribed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) are adhered to

Prepare sites for new developments

Safely operate a mechanical stump grinder and a mechanical chipper, and maintain the equipment according to the operator’s manual
