Request for expression of interest from students to be employed as work-integrated learning, experiential training or internship students for a period of 12, 18 or 24 months in the City of Tshwane

Purpose

 

To create a database that will be used to appoint candidates or students in training for fixed-term contracts for work-integrated learning, experiential learning or internship in different fields of study.

 

As part of the City of Tshwane’s commitment and obligation to address the shortage of people with disabilities in the system and to foster social inclusion, unemployed qualified students are highly encouraged to apply.

 

Reasonable accommodation, in line with the people with disabilities institutional threshold and the inherent and physical requirements of the specific internship, will be given to qualifying applicants with disabilities.

 

Qualifying criteria

 

Applicants must meet the following requirement to be considered:

 

  • Educational qualification: Must have completed a tertiary qualification relevant to the specified fields

 

Students in the following categories can be accommodated in the City of Tshwane for work exposure:

 

  • Final-year university students who have completed all academic modules except for the work-integrated learning component
  • N6 certificate
  • Three-year diploma
  • National diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Other requirements:

 

  • Must require practical work experience of 12, 18 or 24 months, as prescribed by the academic institution and to fulfil graduation requirements
  • Qualified candidates with no work exposure
  • Must be a permanent resident within the City of Tshwane municipal area

 

Note: Documentation such as an identity document, academic record and qualifications (if completed) and proof of residence will be required at the selection stage. Qualifications will be vetted and screened, and a criminal record check will be done prior to the training offer.

 

Primary functions

Successful candidates will be appointed under a formal City of Tshwane student-in-training contract, with the following duration based on qualification requirements:

Students will be contracted to be trained in their relevant fields of study under the supervision of dedicated mentors.
