Job purpose

To ensure maintenance and asset management of all electrical and electronic equipment of City of Tshwane waste water treatment works

 

Appointment 

requirements

An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) or BEng or BSc Engineering (Electric/Electronic) or BTech (Electrical/Electronic) or National Higher Diploma (Electrical/Electronic) or in a study field related to the position

Registration as a Professional Engineer or Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa will be an added advantage

At least six years’ relevant experience in a municipal water environment of which at least three years should be at supervisory level

Compliance with the unit standards of the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act 56 of 2003), as prescribed by Regulation 493 of 15 June 2007, as published in Government Gazette 29967 of 15 June 2007, will be an added advantage

A valid Code B driving licence

Computer literacy

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Manage, supervise and coordinate duties carried out by subordinates and workshop personnel at various waste water works

Compile preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for maintenance on related equipment

Conduct, keep record of and update maintenance schedules and management systems

Identify, determine reasons and solve problems in time for failure of related equipment

Determine when or if faulty, damaged and worn-out equipment must be repaired or replaced

Calculate cost of repairs and measures against replacement value

Obtain and operate specialised instruments to monitor and check high-tension power supply

Manage and maintain high-voltage switchgears and transformers

Manage, inspect and oversee that electrical and electronic equipment and flow meters are kept in good working order
