Job purpose

To ensure the rendering of a registration, archive and messenger service to the Human Capital Registration and Archive Operations Unit

 

Appointment 

requirements

An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Archives and Records Management, Library and Information Science, Information Science or in a study field related to the position

Records Management course as presented by the National Archives will be an added advantage

At least three years’ relevant working experience in an archive and registry support environment

Supervisory experience will be an added advantage

A valid Code B driving licence

Computer literacy

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

 

Competency requirements of the post

Understands how the Human Resources Department functions; Basic knowledge about the municipality; Basic industry knowledge; Knowledge of the municipality’s priorities and goals; Operates within the municipality’s policies and procedures; Guided application of sector policies and legislation in undertaking tasks; and Awareness of the issues impacting service delivery Displays an adequate understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Human Resources within the municipality; and understand the links between people, systems, practices and policy and how this contributes to municipality’ success. Must have in depth knowledge of legislation applicable to the management of records.  To understand manage a public processes and principles to cope competently with the tasks involved and to manage the Archives and filing system effectively

 

Primary functions

Control and manage the registration service of the department

Render an archive service by maintaining and updating the divisional filing system and list of other archives according to the legal requirements as set out in the National Archives and Record Service of South Africa Act, 1996 (Act 43 of 1996)

Manage and render a registration service

Provide an information service

Conduct day-to-day management of the unit
