Job purpose

To install, configure, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot the organisation’s network infrastructure in order to ensure reliable, secure and efficient connectivity

Grade 12

The following knowledge will be an added advantage: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT and VPN technologies; experience with enterprise networking equipment from OEMs such as Alcatel, Huawei, Aruba, Juniper, Fortine or MikroTik

Knowledge of wireless networking standards and Wi-Fi troubleshooting

At least one to two years’ experience in ICT network administration, network support or technical support

A valid Code B driving licence and willingness to travel between sites if required

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Install, configure and maintain network infrastructure to ensure the availability, reliability and performance of the organisation’s network environment

Monitor, maintain and optimise network infrastructure to ensure continuous, secure and efficient service delivery

Install, maintain and support structured network cabling infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity across the organisation

Support the implementation and maintenance of network security controls to protect network infrastructure and information assets

Provide network support services by resolving incidents and service requests in accordance with approved service standards and operational requirements

Maintain accurate network documentation and asset information to support effective network administration and governance
