Job purpose

To render a consultation service regarding all aspects of discipline to client departments

 

Appointment 

requirements

An appropriate three-year tertiary qualification (degree or national diploma) in Labour Relations or any other study field related to the position

At least six years’ relevant working experience in a labour relations or human resources environment

Supervisory experience will be an added advantage

A valid Code B driving licence

Computer literacy

A valid Code B driving licence

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Advise on the application of disciplinary procedures to supervisors, line managers, human resource officers and departmental heads

Analyse disciplinary trends and implement preventative measures

Represent the City as evidence leader in disciplinary hearings

Provide training on the prevention and institution of disciplinary measures

Provide advice on all disciplinary measures and the appropriate steps to be taken, such as the convening of formal disciplinary hearings or progressive discipline

Draft charge sheets

Communicate the outcome of disciplinary hearings to departmental heads

Compile disciplinary-related reports to senior managers and different forums within the City

Implement the outcome of disciplinary proceedings

Verify the correct implementation of disciplinary measures instituted by departments Process disciplinary appeals received from employees

Prepare suspension letters and maintain a database of all suspended employees in the City
