Job purpose

To be responsible for planning and organising activities, such as water meter connections and water meter maintenance, if and when required, and liaise between supervisors and subordinates

 

Appointment 

requirements

Trade certificate as plumber (red seal)

At least two years’ relevant experience in plumbing, preferably in a local government environment with knowledge of various water meters

Supervisory experience will be an added advantage

A valid Code B driving licence

Physical fitness and good health with the ability to make actual site visits

Willingness and ability to work overtime

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Plan and delegate tasks received from supervisor

Conduct quality control of all work carried out by subordinates or contractors

Ensure that work is in accordance with standard procedures and that equipment complies with the regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)

Ensure administrative control

Liaise with supervisors, colleagues, contractors and the public by attending various meetings

Issue spot fines for transgressions of the City of Tshwane Water Supply By-laws
