Job purpose

To install and maintain sewers, connections, extensions and pump stations, and to clear sewer blockages from municipal and private sewers

 

Appointment 

requirements

Grade 10

At least six months’ relevant working experience in general maintenance on local authority water networks

A valid Code C1 driving licence with a valid PrDP

Computer literacy

Physical fitness and health

Ability to do physical work related to operation and maintenance activities for continuous periods

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)

Perform tasks and duties on a rotation basis between various operational teams to enhance multi-skilling

Perform general maintenance work related to sewerage network services and pipe maintenance

Unblock blocked sewers

Execute any operations and maintenance-related tasks as specified by the artisan
