Job purpose

To manage the planning, design and implementation of electrical infrastructure for secondary electrical networks to ensure sufficient, reliable and safe capacity on new and existing electrical networks

Appointment 

requirements

An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree), BEng or BTech in Electrical Engineering or any other electrical engineering-related study field

Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as Engineering Technologist will be an added advantage

At least seven years’ relevant working experience in a project management environment

Managerial experience will be an added advantage

A valid Code B driving licence

Computer literacy  

Willingness and ability to work overtime and standby as and when required

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Execute generic personnel management functions

Ensure the correct implementation of the design of the bulk electricity secondary network in order to create sufficient capacity for electrical networks

Manage and approve feasibility reports for the secondary network to ensure cost-effective projects

Manage and approve the designs of transmission networks to ensure optimal performance on electrical networks

Ensure the construction of secondary network electrical infrastructure operations

Manage and oversee tender documents for project implementation to ensure adherence to procurement policies

Manage and approve the budget of projects to ensure that secondary projects are allocated to projects correctly

Adhere to statutory regulations to reduce exposure to departmental risks
