Job purpose

To design, implement, administer and maintain secure network infrastructure and firewall solutions in order to protect the organisation’s information assets

To ensure network services by implementing security controls, monitoring network traffic, responding to security incidents and maintaining compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements

An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or any ICT-related study field

The following relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage:

Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) or Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP)

At least three years’ experience of hands-on network administration, specifically managing routers and switches and configuring firewall policies

A valid Code B driving licence

Computer literacy

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Design, implement, administer and maintain enterprise firewall and network security solutions to safeguard the City’s ICT infrastructure and information assets

Monitor, analyse and respond to network security events and incidents to ensure the availability, integrity and resilience of network services

Implement network security governance, risk management and business continuity measures to ensure compliance and to protect critical ICT services

Support the continuous improvement of network security services through collaboration, technical guidance, documentation and the implementation of emerging security technologies
