Job purpose

To ensure overall management, operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the physical infrastructure supporting the organisation’s data centre facilities

Appointment 

requirements

An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or any engineering-related study field

The following relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage: Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP); occupational health and safety certification

Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer, Professional Engineering Technologist, or Candidate Engineer will be an added advantage

At least six years’ experience in data centre or facilities management environment

A valid Code B driving licence

Computer literacy

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

Manage and maintain the data centre’s physical infrastructure to ensure the continuous availability, reliability and efficiency of critical facility systems

Ensure the resilience, sustainability and optimal utilisation of data centre infrastructure through effective planning, risk management and business continuity practices

Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements through the implementation of operational standards, policies and best practices

Manage contracts, assets, financial resources and service providers to ensure the efficient, cost-effectiveness and sustainable operation of the data centre facilities
