Job purpose |
To coordinate, monitor and support the planning and execution of events within Tshwane in strict compliance with applicable municipal by-laws, national legislation and regulatory requirements, and to ensure that all events adhere to safety, health, environmental and permitting standards, while facilitating efficient approvals and stakeholder coordination |

Appointment requirements |
An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (degree or national diploma) in Event Management, Public Relations, Marketing Management or in a study field related to the position At least three years’ experience in an event management environment A valid Code B driving licence Computer literacy Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost |

Primary functions |
Assist in managing the City’s Joint Operations Committee (JOC) and coordinate all JOC meetings Coordinate and monitor compliance requirements for all events hosted within Tshwane, ensuring alignment with applicable by-laws, policies and national legislation Facilitate the event application and approval process, including the verification of permits, licences and supporting documentation Liaise with internal departments (safety, health, emergency services, traffic and environmental management) to ensure integrated compliance oversight Engage with event organisers, vendors and stakeholders to communicate compliance requirements and provide guidance on regulatory standards Conduct risk assessments and ensure that appropriate safety, health and environmental measures are implemented for each event Monitor events (pre-, during and post-event) to ensure adherence to approved compliance conditions and take corrective action where necessary Maintain accurate records of event applications, approvals, inspections and compliance reports Identify potential compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure that public safety and service delivery standards are upheld Support enforcement processes by reporting non-compliance and assisting with the implementation of corrective or legal actions where required Protect the City from legal risk, financial risk and reputational damage |
