Job purpose |
To provide extension and advisory services on crop production, design crop production plans and develop viable marketing plans for projects, smallholders and semi-commercial farmers involved in crop production |

Appointment requirements |
An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (degree or national diploma) in Agriculture or any other study field specialising in Crop Science, Agronomy or Plant Production Registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNSP) will be an added advantage At least six years’ working experience as an agricultural advisor in crop production and commercial or semi-commercial agricultural enterprises Supervisory experience will be an added advantage Computer literacy A valid Code B driving licence Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost |

Primary function |
Provide technical expertise and operational management in the development, functioning and sustainability of agri-parks Be responsible for developing viable business cases, coordinating feasibility and compliance studies, infrastructure development, technical advisory support services, farmer support, business and production planning, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, market facilitation and ensuring that agri-parks contribute to food security, job creation and economic growth Develop agricultural infrastructure to support crop production within agri-parks Monitor and evaluate the operations and functioning of agri-parks Manage agricultural co-operatives and individual farmers leasing agri-parks Facilitate and establish strategic partnerships for the benefit of operators in agri-parks Provide institutional capacity-building support and technical competency of emerging and semi-commercial producer formations throughout the value chain Provide expertise for farm produce pricing and assist with negotiating with bulk buyers Explore and facilitate farming for export markets Undertake procurement in line with the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act 56 of 2003) and supply chain management policies |
