Job purpose

To render an air quality management operation and support function to the section

 

Appointment requirements

An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or any other study field related to the position

At least six years’ applicable experience in the air quality management space

Supervisory experience will be an added advantage

Computer literacy

A valid Code B driving licence 

Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary function

Manage personnel

Ensure effective air quality management

Monitor industries for compliance with the requirements of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2004 (Act 39 of 2004)

Participate in the development and implementation of the Air Quality Management Plan

Facilitate the development of education and awareness programmes for air pollution in Tshwane

Participate in the management and operation of the air quality monitoring network of the City

Participate in the development of emission reduction strategies

Promote cleaner production and continuous improvement in best practices pertaining to air pollution prevention and minimisation

Promote energy efficiency within all sectors, including industrial, commercial, institutional, mining, transportation and domestic energy use

Ensure administrative and financial support

Give input for the compilation of an annual budget for the unit

Communicate unit needs

Assist with the compilation of specifications for tenders, consultants, etc

Assist and comply with asset management policies and procedures

Assist with the management of contractual agreements
