Appointment requirements |
Trade certificate as plumber (red seal) At least two years’ relevant experience in plumbing, preferably in a local government environment with knowledge of various water meters Supervisory experience will be an added advantage A valid Code B driving licence Computer literacy Physical fitness and good health with the ability to make actual site visits Willingness and ability to work shifts, standby and overtime Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost |

Primary functions |
Install and maintain water meters and pressure reducing valves Install data loggers, controllers and other monitoring devices Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) Perform generic supervisory duties Conduct site water audits and meter inspections Repair or replace obsolete or stolen water meters Verify and collect water meter-related data Detect internal infrastructure water leaks (internal pipelines, fittings, etc) Deal with and assist customers to resolve their problems and queries Ensure quality control (meter installations and maintenance) Register and report any tampering or bypassing of water meters (illegal connections) |
