Job purpose |
To monitor all relevant water sources, including purification plants, fountains, boreholes, dam water and river water, and all potable water storage facilities to ensure sufficient quality control on all sources used and treated for drinking water |

Appointment requirements |
An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (degree or national diploma) in Microbiology, Laboratory Management or any other study field related to the position Registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions as a Professional Scientist or Certificated Scientist At least three years’ relevant working experience in a water or waste water laboratory environment Supervisory experience will be an added advantage A valid Code B driving licence Computer literacy Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost |

Primary functions |
Perform microbiology analysis and support the functions in the microbiology laboratory Develop new methods that cover a wide range of water microbiology as required by SANS 241 Liaise with plant managers where there are failures and attend to consumer complaints |
